First-timer FAQ
Quick answers for your first Disney Adventure sailing.
When does online check-in open?
Online check-in opens at midnight US Eastern time a set number of days before you sail, and the window depends on your Castaway Club tier: 30 days for first-time guests, 33 for Silver, 35 for Gold, 38 for Platinum, and 40 for Pearl. Doing it as early as your window allows gets you an earlier Port Arrival Time choice.
When can I book dining, spa, and port adventures?
Activity bookings (specialty dining, spa, and port adventures) open at midnight US Eastern, earlier than check-in: 75 days before sailing for first-time guests, 90 for Silver, 105 for Gold, 120 for Platinum, and 123 for Pearl. Popular slots go fast, so set a reminder for your tier's date.
What travel documents do I need to sail from Singapore?
Bring a passport valid for at least six months beyond your sail date, plus any visas your nationality needs for Singapore and the ports of call. Keep your booking confirmation handy for check-in. Document rules vary by passport, so confirm your specific requirements with the cruise line and the relevant embassies before you travel.
What should I pack?
Pack swimwear, light layers for cool indoor venues, sun protection (reef-safe sunscreen is appreciated at island stops), comfortable walking shoes, and one or two dressier outfits for evenings. Keep medications, a change of clothes, and your documents in your carry-on, since checked bags can take until evening to reach your room. The Packing list in the Plan tab has a full checklist you can tick off.
What is a Port Arrival Time, and when should I arrive?
Your Port Arrival Time (PAT) is a 15-minute window you pick during online check-in for when to arrive at the terminal. Plan to reach the Marina Bay Cruise Centre about an hour before your PAT to allow for luggage drop-off and security. Arriving much earlier rarely speeds anything up.
Where does Disney Adventure depart in Singapore?
Disney Adventure sails from the Marina Bay Cruise Centre Singapore (MBCCS) at Marina South. It is a short taxi or rideshare from the city centre. Build in buffer time for arrival-day traffic around the terminal.
What happens to my checked luggage at the terminal?
Hand your tagged bags to the porters before you go through security; they are delivered to your stateroom door later in the day, often not until evening. Carry anything you will want sooner — medication, swimwear, sunscreen, and your documents — in a bag you keep with you.
How does rotational dining work?
Instead of eating in the same room every night, you rotate through the main restaurants on a set schedule, and your serving team rotates with you so they get to know your table. Your nightly rotation is printed on your sailing materials. Specialty (adults-only) restaurants are separate and need their own reservation.
What is the stateroom key card used for?
Your stateroom card is your room key, your onboard charge card, and your ID for getting on and off the ship. The ship is cashless onboard — purchases go to your onboard account, which you settle to a credit card at the end of the cruise. Keep the card on you whenever you leave your room.
Is there Wi-Fi and internet onboard?
Paid internet packages are usually available, but satellite connections at sea are often slow and pricey compared with what you are used to on land. Download what you need before you sail and treat connectivity as a nice-to-have. This app is built to work fully offline for exactly that reason.
Is there a dress code?
Daytime is resort-casual. Most evenings stay relaxed, though some guests enjoy dressing up for a nicer night, and specialty restaurants tend to ask for smart attire. There is no strict formalwear requirement — bring one outfit you would be comfortable in for a slightly dressier dinner.
What do cabin category codes like 9A or 11C mean?
The number is the broad tier and the letter narrows down the view and location, so a code like 9A or 11C tells you roughly where the room sits and whether it has an inside wall, a window, or a verandah. Disney Adventure uses 28 of these codes across its 2,110 cabins. The cabin-category guide article walks through how to read yours.
Can I book connecting staterooms?
Some categories include connecting staterooms with an interior door between two rooms — useful for families travelling together. Use the connecting-door filter in the stateroom finder to see which cabins offer it, then confirm the connection when booking.
What is in a standard stateroom?
A typical room has a queen bed plus additional pull-down or sofa berths depending on the category, storage and a wardrobe, a small fridge, a TV, and a bathroom (many rooms use a split-bath layout with the toilet and shower separated from the sink). Oceanview rooms add a window and verandah categories add a private balcony.
How do I request a particular bed setup?
Note your preference when you book and mention it to your stateroom host once onboard — they handle the room each day and can often split or combine beds. Specific configurations are requests, not guarantees, so flag anything essential (like a crib or a bed rail) as early as possible.
What kids' clubs are there, and what ages do they cover?
Disney ships group youth programming by age: a club and lab space for younger children, an Edge space for tweens, and a Vibe space for teens, each with age-appropriate activities and supervised play. Check your sailing materials for the exact venues and age bands on Disney Adventure, since names and cut-offs can vary.
Is there childcare for babies and toddlers?
Disney ships typically offer a paid nursery for the youngest guests who are too small for the regular kids' clubs, with limited hours and limited capacity. Spaces book up quickly, so reserve as soon as your booking window opens and confirm the age minimum and pricing onboard.
Can children get kids' menus and eat separately?
Kids' menus are available across the main restaurants. On some evenings, the youth clubs run supervised dining so children can eat and head straight to activities while adults enjoy a longer meal. Ask your serving team how it works on your sailing.
What is a Fish Extender, and do Adventure doors have a fish hook?
A Fish Extender is a hanging holder for a friendly cabin-to-cabin gift exchange organised by guests. Important for first-timers: Disney Adventure staterooms do not come with the built-in door fish hook some other Disney ships have, and none are sold onboard — if you want to take part, bring your own magnetic hook from home. The Fish Extender guide article covers how groups organise.
What is pixie dusting?
Pixie dusting is leaving small, anonymous gifts or notes for other guests' cabins as a random act of kindness, separate from any organised exchange. It is entirely optional and low-key. The traditions guide article explains the etiquette.
Can I decorate my stateroom door?
Yes, with magnetic decorations — stateroom doors are metal and tape is not allowed. As of mid-2026, fleet-wide rules tighten this up: decorations must stay within your own door, may not play sound or video, and must not block walkways. Confirm the current policy before you sail, since the rules were rolling out around June 2026.
How do gratuities work?
Suggested gratuities for your dining and stateroom crew are added automatically to your onboard account per guest, per night. You can review or adjust them at guest services if you wish. Spa and bar checks usually add their own service charge separately.
What currency is used onboard?
The ship runs a cashless onboard account that you settle to a credit card, and charges are commonly shown in US dollars. If you are budgeting in Singapore dollars, remember a currency conversion applies. Check the prevailing currency and any conversion fees with the cruise line for your specific sailing.
What power outlets are in the stateroom?
Cabins generally provide US-style sockets and USB charging, and sometimes a European-style socket, so a small travel adapter is handy if your plugs differ. Surge-protected power strips and extension cords are not permitted for safety reasons — bring a non-surge USB charger instead.
Will I get seasick?
Disney Adventure is a large, stabilised ship, so most guests feel little motion in normal conditions. If you are prone to motion sickness, pack your preferred remedy and consider a lower, midship cabin, which tends to feel steadiest. Ginger sweets and over-the-counter tablets are usually available onboard too.
Can I bring my own alcohol onboard?
As of the rule changes rolling out around June 2026, each adult may bring a limited amount aboard at embarkation — reported as one 750 ml bottle of wine or champagne, or about six beers — with anything bought in port held until you disembark. Bringing wine to a restaurant may carry a corkage fee. These figures come from press coverage, so verify the current allowance with the cruise line before packing any.
What items are prohibited?
Typical banned items include weapons, candles and anything with an open flame, irons and steamers, and surge-protected power strips. Other categories such as drones or large beverage quantities may be restricted or held. Always check the cruise line's current prohibited-items list before you pack, as it changes.
Are selfie sticks and tripods allowed?
As of the mid-2026 rule changes, selfie sticks and tripods are restricted — reported as allowed only when 18 inches or shorter when retracted — and they are not permitted on rides or in some venues. Verify the current rule before you bring one, and expect to keep it stowed in busy areas.
